Luscious HERSHEY BAR TREATS Cookies

Table of Contents: COOKIES

2 sticks butter (1 cup, 8 oz. or ½ lb.)

½ cup granulated sugar

1 cup pecans, finely chopped; divided

6 (1.55 oz.)  candy bars of Hershey’s milk chocolate

1 box plain Graham Crackers (entire box will not be used)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Spray-oil a large cookie pan that has a “lip” to prevent cookies from sliding off the pan.

Cover the entire cookie pan with a single layer of Graham Cracker cookies and set aside.

Unwrap candy-bars and break into individual bars along the “scoring” lines.  Set aside.  (Janet says, “If you can!”)

In a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter; then stir in the sugar.  Bring the mixture to a boil and allow it to become frothy; then reduce heat to medium and stir constantly for 4 minutes.   The mixture will be slightly thickened.  Remove from heat and stir in ¾ of the pecans; then, immediately pour the mixture over the Graham Crackers.  Quickly spread the mixture as evenly as possible over all Graham Crackers; then sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup chopped pecans to fill-in spots without pecans.   (Don’t get obsessive here!).  Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven for about 10 to 12 minutes.  The mixture should be bubbling, but not burning.

Remove pan from oven and evenly place the broken Hershey Bar pieces on top to begin melting in place.  When candy bar pieces are melted, use a fork to spread it evenly over the entire surface of the cookies.  Refrigerate the pan and cookies for about 1 hour to allow the cookie topping to get firm; then break cookies to serve.

I can’t even describe how luscious these nutty, crispy, chocolaty cookies are!  Suffice it to say, YUM!

Janet, thank you so much for this great recipe.  The next time I make it, I am going to try it with dark chocolate; then I’m going to try it with ½ milk chocolate and ½ dark chocolate; but I don’t see how it could possibly better than this recipe!
